In a world plagued with carbon copies and overly-sexualized ideas of women - the degrading of a sacred image - “Coming to Afrika” pays homage to the first ever recorded queen, Neithhotep.
This collection represents the royal, warrior-like nature of a woman disguised as a classic, feminine, statuesque creature. It is a return to who we were before music videos and men’s magazines.
We are LIFE - birthing nations, ideas, change.
“Coming to Afrika” represents a paradigm shift in the atmosphere where women from all walks of life realize once again - that we are all born Queens and our power is infinite.
This collection mixes old world paisley patterns with gingham (an element from the designer’s childhood uniforms from Haiti) and incorporates bold design, accentuating broad shoulders while also focusing on lighter fabrics such as lace and tulle in garments that are fluid and move well with the body. This illustrates the intrinsic nature of a woman—strength and vulnerability.
She’s a classically feminine Warrior.
